Hope Active
The Hope Active programme is a three-year initiative funded by Cambridgeshire County Council and managed by Hope CIC. The primary goal is to enhance the health and wellbeing of individuals aged 60 and over by offering exercise-based activities specifically designed to meet their needs. The programme focuses on promoting physical activity in older adults through tailored exercise opportunities. In addition, it leverages community volunteers and resources to deliver activities that not only improve physical health but also enhance emotional wellbeing.
The Hope Active programme aims to support individuals over 60 by encouraging them to lead more active lives, ultimately improving both their physical and emotional health. Key objectives of the programme include:
Targeted Exercise Activities: Offering specialised exercise-based interventions such as nature walks, field trips, therapeutic gardening, and other nature-based activities to older adults across more than 40 villages in South Cambridgeshire and Huntingdon. These activities are typically conducted in small groups and facilitated by non-specialist staff or volunteers.
Access Through Referrals: Referrals are facilitated through multiple channels, including libraries, community groups, GP practices, and self-referrals, ensuring broad access to the programme and engagement from a wide range of participants.
